A Platoon Formation Framework in a Mixed Traffic Environment

Connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) provide the most intriguing opportunity to reduce pollution, energy consumption, travel delays. In this letter, we address problem of vehicle platoon formation in a traffic network with partial CAV penetration rates. We investigate interaction between human-driven (HDV) dynamics, rigorous control framework that enables HDVs by only controlling CAVs within network. present complete analytical solution input conditions under which is feasible. evaluate demonstrate efficacy proposed using simulation.
